Local Rules
Out of Bounds - Beyond all boundary fences, hedges or white marker posts bounding the course. Beyond the hedge bordering the car park at the rear of the 2nd green. On or beyond the path along Limes Avenue to the right of the 9th and right of the 11th hole. On or beyond the tarmac / concrete road to the left of the 12th hole. Beyond the rear of the 12th green. Left of the 16th hole in or beyond the river. The Club car park and practice ground. Over the boundary of the Castle land.
Obstructions - Relief may be taken (Rule 24-2b) from any artificial pathway or immoveable obstruction. Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions (rule 24-1 applies). In addition, if a ball lies through the green and a sprinkler head on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play, relief may be taken as follows. The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief which a) avoids intervention b) is not on the putting green and c) is not nearer the hole. The shelters at the back of the 7th green and adjacent to the 15thtee are immoveable obstructions, as are the wooden sleepers around the 10th tee.
Water Hazards (Rule 26) - All ponds and ditches are water hazards whether or not they contain water. Water hazards are indicated by yellow stakes or lines. Lateral water hazards are indicated by red stakes or lines.
Painted distance reference points in the fairway are ground under repair and relief may be taken
When playing the 15th hole, if a ball lies on the men’s 16th tee, in the area defined by white lines, the player may without
penalty lift and drop the ball in the dropping zone behind the 15th green
Young Trees – staked or with support wire - If such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or the area of intended swing, the ball MUST be lifted without penalty and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 24-2b (1) –immoveable instruction. The ball may be cleaned when so lifted.
Distance-Measuring Devices - The committee has in accordance with the Note under Rule 14-3 for all play at this course, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.
